SARDIS CITY, Ala. (WIAT) – An Etowah County teen is recovering after he crashed his car while reportedly looking down at his phone.
When the young man looked up, he realized that he had hit a camel.
Police tell CBS42 news that the teenager was driving on Bryant Drive when he hit the hump-backed mammal who was crossing the street.
The animal trainer was leading the camel back to Turk’s Bama Bucks wildlife refuge.
Police say the driver only suffered minor injuries to his hand and face, but the camel was put down as a result of its injuries.
The animal trainer was not hurt.
