Rachel on the Road: Southern Museum of Flight

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Southern Museum of Flight is Birmingham’s “closest guarded secret,” according to executive board member, Hank Collins. The museum is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year! For information about the anniversary gala, click here.

The South’s largest museum is located at 4343 73rd St N, Birmingham, AL 35206, which is just two blocks away from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

The hanger space is filled with the evolution of aviation and America’s flight history with a military focus. Not only can you see the aircraft, but you can use their interactive tools to get a more hands-on and educational experience. There is even a flight simulator that lets you practice flying fighter jets.

You can also host events, take a tour or a field trip with your class. That information is posted for you, click here.
