TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Nine distinguished Alabama authors have been inducted into the Alabama Writers’ Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony was Thursday night at the Bryant Conference Center at the University of Alabama.
Birmingham native Fannie Flagg was one of nine inductees honored during the ceremony. Among her works, she is known for writing Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café.
Flagg couldn’t make it to the ceremony, but friends say she was thrilled to receive the honor.
