HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — A 19-year-old suspect is in jail after a Hoover woman was robbed and sexually assaulted Thursday night after answering a knock at her door, police say. Two other male victims who lived nearby were also robbed in the hour following the first incident.
Hoover Police responded at 9:44 p.m. to the 1500 building of the Park at Galleria complex to a reported armed robbery. Police say a woman answered a knock at her door to find an armed black man wearing a grey hoodie with a red bandana. He was armed with a pistol, and forced his way inside her apartment, demanding money and the victim’s cell phone.
The suspect then sexually assault the victim before leaving with the stolen property.
While police officers were interviewing the victim, another robbery was reported at another Park at Galleria building. A male victim said he answered a knock and the same suspect in the first incident forced his way inside at gunpoint, stealing money and the victim’s phone.
At 10:05 p.m. in the 4300 building of the Park at Hoover, another victim reported the same suspect knocked and forced his way inside at gunpoint. The suspect took a playstation, cash and a laptop before fleeing. The responding officers found a man matching the suspect in all three robberies hiding in a vacant apartment in the 5000 building and took him into custody. He was wearing a grey good and in possession of a red bandana with a pistol. Each victim was able to positively ID him.
Police say the suspect is 19-year-old Anthony Marques Pittman of unincorporated Jefferson County.
Pittman is charged with three counts of burglary in the first, three counts of robbery in the first, and one count of rape in the first. His total bond is set at $700,000. He is currently in the Hoover City Jail and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail later Friday.
