BIRMINGHAM,Ala. (WIAT) — October is Superhero Month, and Children’s of Alabama kicked off the celebration today.
The unexpected visit was part of the ‘Capes and Crowns’ event. All the children got a chance to meet their favorite superhero and pick out a cape and crown.
In addition to the superheroes, regular every day heroes from Books-A-Million dressed up and helped the kids get their pictures made and complete arts and crafts.
“It really just gives the kids an opportunity to tell their story to the community, not only Birmingham, but the state of Alabama,” said Scott Kappler with Books-A-Million. “Raise awareness to Children’s of Alabama – everything they can do to make the stays for the families and the children as good as it can be.”
Children’s of Alabama has events planned all during October to help celebrate Superhero Month.
