-Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in downtown Seattle to protest against recent police shootings and brutality. Many gathered at Seattle’s Westlake Center and Safeco Field. There are reports that up to one thousand protesters attended.

-Alabama Attorney General, Luther Strange, announced that the state is joining 13 other states in support of the religious liberty of a flower shop owner. The owner is being sued by the state of Washington, for declining to prepare flowers for a same-sex marriage ceremony. Strange says the owner is “being targeted by the government for exercising her rights for free speech”. Other states supporting the owner are Arkansas, Arizona, Kansas, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Nevada.

-Pope Francis is leaving the country of Georgia this morning, after a two day visit. While there, he conducted a public mass and tries to improve relations with the Georgian Orthodox Church

-Family and friends are remembering the one year anniversary of the sinking of the El Faro. The ship sunk during hurricane Joaquin, with a crew of 33 on board. Yesterday, a special statue was unveiled at Dames Point Park in Jacksonville, FL, to remember the lives lost.

-Hundreds are remembering a New York Fire Chief killed in the line of duty. Michael Fahy died after a gas explosion outside a Bronx home last week. He had been a firefighter for 17 years.

-Vice President Joe Biden, attended the funeral of a firefighter killed in Wilmington, Delaware. The firefighter died after a floor collapsed during a row home fire. Biden delivered remarks in front of the hundreds at the funeral.
