TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Three people were injured, one critically, after a shooting outside the Cypress Inn Restaurant in Tuscaloosa Sunday morning.
According to Tuscaloosa Police, officers responded Sunday morning around 1 a.m. to a disturbance at outside the restaurant. Officers arrived to find several vehicles in the parking lot and a large crowd of people. Officers blocked the road and tried to clear the parking lot. Officers heard multiple shots fired in the parking lot, but couldn’t determine who fired the shots.
More officers arrived and the parking lot eventually was cleared. After that, police heard 35-50 shots fired from the area of Buddy’s Food Mart on NE McFarland Blvd.
Police say a 22-year-old man was shot outside the Cypress Inn, and he is suffering from life-threatening injures. Two more men, 20 and 21 years old, were shot in the Buddy’s Food Mart parking lot. Over 50 shell casings were recovered from the Food Mart.
Officers say after they responded to the Food Mart location, they stopped a white Cadillac Escalade seen speeding away from the scene with the back window shot out. The driver and passenger in that vehicle were detained.
The case is pending further investigation.
