Edward May wins Fairfield mayoral election for vacant spot

FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WIAT) — Edward May won the Fairfield mayoral election runoff over Johnnie Wyatt to claim the spot left open when incumbent Kenneth Coachman declared he was not running.

May’s 1,004 votes edged out Wyatt’s 922, bringing the embattled election cycle for the cash-strapped city to an end.

One of the first priorities that May named was working on the city’s finances, and stated that he wanted to help community partners move forward with the city.

May beat out six other candidates to claim the position
