Craft paints recalled over possible bacteria exposure


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — An art supplies company is recalling craft paints over possible bacteria exposure.

Sargent Art is recalling arts and crafts tempera and finger paints. The company says the pain can contain harmful bacteria that may pose a risk to immunocompromised individuals. Consumers with healthy immune systems are not usually affected by the bacteria.

The recalled paint was sold between May 2015 and June 2016 at Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart and other stores nationwide and online at and on the company’s website. 13 types of paint in all colors and sizes are included in the recall.

  • Washable Tempera Paint

Anyone with the recalled paints should stop using them immediately and contact Sargent Art at 800-827-8081 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET and Monday through Friday for a full refund.
