PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two children and one adult man are dead after shots were fired at the Redwood Creek Apartments at SW Hall Blvd. and Greenway.
A female relative called 911 after she found the victims. The young victims were a 6-year-old boy who was in first grade and an 8-year-old girl who was in second grade.
The 36-year-old man was the biological father of the 2 children.
Beaverton Police say it appears to be a murder-suicide. There are no suspects at this time.
Police say when offers first arrived, they believed the 3 people inside were dead and per protocol, they left the scene to avoid contaminating evidence. After they left, they heard a gunshot from inside the apartment.
Officer Jeremy Shaw said due to the trauma of the victims the believed all 3 were dead before they cleared the scene.
Officers later reentered the apartment and confirmed that 3 were dead. Investigators believe the man woke up and took his own life.
Police say there is no risk to the public but there will be traffic delays due to the investigation.
