Community gathers for prayer walk in Sylacauga in light of student attack last week

SYLACAUGA, Ala. (WIAT) — Dozens of people gathered in front of Sylacauga High School Thursday morning for a pray walk in honor of the student attacked last week after a football game. Police say the student was beaten for posting pro-police messages on Facebook.

As of Thursday morning, Brian Ogle is now out of ICU and has been moved into a regular hospital room. Ogle’s mom tells CBS42 his condition hasn’t really changed.

Church group, students, parents and community members gathered for the prayer walk as a way to promote unity and healing.

Police say Ogle was beaten after a high school football game on Friday after posting pro-police messages on Facebook.

He suffered serious injuries including a fractured skull.

Arrests warrants have been issued for the suspects involved in the case.

Another prayer walk, organized by the Valley View Church of God, is set for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Noble Park.
