Hurricane Matthew delays Ross Harris trial

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (WIAT) — The threat of Hurricane Mathew is delaying the Ross Harris murder trial in Brunswick, Georgia.

Harris is the Tuscaloosa native prosecutors say intentionally left his 22-month old son, Cooper, to die in a hot car.

New details about the day 22-month old Cooper Harris was found in his father’s car outside Atlanta two years ago are being revealed. Evidence pictures were presented Wednesday in the courtroom.

A technician with the Cobb County Police Evidence Unit took the stand to give his testimony about seeing the child for the first time.

A prosecutor also showed jurors photographs of Cooper’s body lying on a white sheet on the pavement. Prosecutors argue Harris wanted his son gone because he was unhappy in his marriage.

Ross Harris’ ex-wife, Leanna, is expected to take the stand soon. The trial is slated to resume on Monday depending on the path of Hurricane Matthew.

We will continue to monitor the status of the trial and bring you any new updates.
