GRAYSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — The suspect who reportedly tried and failed to rob the Graysville Regions Bank in the drive through on Aug. 29 has been arrested after returning to the bank in October.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect returned Oct. 6 without a disguise because he had an account there. Employees recognized him as the robbery suspect and notified security. He left before deputies arrived.
Officials later identified the suspect as 46-year-old Gary Donnell Speights of Pratt City. The next day, they obtained a warrant for his arrest and detained him at his home. He denied being involved in the robbery, officials say. He posted bond over the weekend.
Speights is accused of robbing the Regions Bank in Graysville on Aug. 29th and has been charged with robbery in the 3rd degree.
Officials say a black man with a mustache wearing women’s sunglasses and a curly black wig pulled into the drive through and passed a note to the teller demanding cash. He drove off without being given any money.
