Man charged with attempted murder, accused of repeatedly stabbing homeless woman

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A man is in jailed, accused of stabbing a homeless woman known as Ms. Alice multiple times.

The stabbing happened Friday, Oct. 7 in the early morning hours.  Ms. Alice is still in the hospital, suffering from life-threatening injuries.

According to Birmingham police, the suspect is 36-year-old Roger Brackin. Brackin is charged with attempted murder.

Birmingham Police Lt. Sean Edwards tells us Brackin knew Ms. Alice, as both are regulars at local shelters.

Witnesses told police that Brackin got mad and stabbed Ms. Alice several times. This is the second time she has been attacked in the past month.

On Aug. 30, someone painted her face, arms and hands while she slept on the street.
