Oxford man arrested, charged after allegedly hiding drugs in woods

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Corporal Nick Vaughn and Deputy Sheldon Estes responded to a motor vehicle accident scene on County Road 29 in the Rock Run community on Saturday, October 8.

A man that was involved in the accident appeared to have hidden something in the woods along the road. Deputies searched the area and reportedly found synthetic marijuana, which is also known as ‘spice.’

When the suspect was confronted, he attempted to flee, but was apprehended by Deputy Estes.

Jahmaad Q. Hill, 25, of Oxford, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest and Attempting to Elude a Police Officer. He was taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
