ALABAMA (WIAT) — Superintendent Michael Sentance told State School Board members that he wants to develop a strategy to raise state math scores.
He says only 31% of Alabama eighth graders are proficient at math.
Sentance believes this could have major consequences for Alabama’s economy and future job recruitment. He is working on creating a new panel of educators to help develop recommendations to improve state scores.
He hopes to have a draft proposal in December.
