ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin, an Altoona man has been arrested in connection to a recent theft.
“Bruce Wayne Stubbs, 34, of Altoona, was arrested and charged with one count of second degree burglary and one count of first degree theft of property, both are felonies,” Lieutenant Robin Grant said. He is also charged with attempting to elude and resisting arrest, misdemeanors.
While Stubbs was trying to break into a home on Bud Umphrey Road, the homeowner spoke to him through the front door. Stubbs then walked off the porch into the yard.
Stubbs was not initially located when Deputy Ragan and Altoona Officer Overstreet arrived on the scene. However, an SUV drove by the home, stopped in the roadway and then drove away while the officers were speaking with the homeowner.
Stubbs was located by officers and was identified as the driver of the SUV. It is reported that Stubbs stole the vehicle from next door after he left the first residence.
Stubbs has been booked into the Etowah County Detention Center with a $9,000 bond.
