ALABAMA (WIAT) — The case against the man accused of killing five people in a South Alabama home is going to a grand jury.
Police say 28-year-old Derrick Dearman confessed to shooting five people, one of them a pregnant woman, and then hitting them with an axe. This all happened while the victims were asleep in their Citronelle home back in August.
Police say Dearman then kidnapped his estranged girlfriend and took her to Mississippi, where he turned himself in.
The Mississippi native was in court on Monday. Dearman blames the attacks on drugs.
He is currently in jail without bond.
