WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE 10/23: Alabama State Trooper Johnathan Appling tells CBS 42 that a man has been arrested and charged with the hit and run death of 9-year-old Ellis Strickland.
Tomas Hugo, 25, is charged with one count of Felony Leaving the Scene of an accident. He is in the Walker County Jail on $100,000 bond.
UPDATE 10/21: Alabama State Troopers have recovered the 2001 Nissan Maxima involved in the collision that took Strickland’s life, but the search for the driver is still ongoing.

UPDATE 5:45PM: The Walker County coroner has released the identity of the child killed in the crash.
The boy has been identified as 9-year-old Ellis Strickland. His family tells us he was the nephew of Jason Key, who was driving the motorcycle at the time of the hit-and-run.
Key’s motorcycle and another vehicle collided Thursday afternoon and officials say the vehicle fled the scene.
UPDATE FRIDAY 12PM: Jason Key’s wife Jeanie tells us he was released from the hospital Friday morning, and they are headed home.
We reached out to Alabama State Trooper Appling as well. He said they do not have any updates to release at this time.
Jeanie also said the 9-year-old boy who was killed in the hit and run was her nephew.

ORIGINAL: Alabama State Troopers are searching for a suspect vehicle that fled the scene of a crash that killed a 9-year-old Jasper boy.
Troopers say the child was killed after a vehicle and motorcycle collided on Highway 69 near Burrows Crossing Road. The child was a passenger on the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as 23-year-old Jason Key of Jasper. He was taken to UAB Hospital.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers are actively searching for the vehicle that fled. Troopers are asking for anyone with information about the crash or the missing vehicle to please contact the Hamilton Highway Patrol Post at (205) 921-3121.
