AU to build educational complex in Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WIAT) — Auburn University is getting a little bit bigger! The school will build an educational complex in Gulf Shores.

The satellite campus will sit on 26 acres within a 200-acre parcel along the Foley Beach Express, just northeast of the main business district.

The city will break ground on the 24,000 square foot building next spring or summer. Construction will take around 18 months.

The soon-to-be campus will serve as a veterinary center and extension of the veterinary teaching hospital. The campus will also house programs related to organic horticulture, marine fisheries and specialty mapping.
