TALLADEGA Ala. (WIAT) — Stemley Station Restaurant went up in flames Friday night. Investigators have not officially determined the cause, but the owners tell CBS42 that the fire most likely was born out of an electrical issue.
The fire started in the attic and quickly spread. Owners, Bill and Kay Huffaker, say this is the second fire in restaurant’s 32 years. The first one happened in 1999. The family owned business has been a staple in the Talladega community. Many of their customers were regulars.
“It’s not from a monetary standpoint, but a standpoint of relationships. That’s something we live with all our lives. Relationships with people,” said Bill Huffaker.
Remarkably, the front entrance, which is made of wood, held up just fine. The rest of the restaurant is a total loss.
“We are just waiting for the Lord to make a way and He will make a way where there is a way. We will have to have faith and trust in Him and He’ll show us what He wants us to do.”
No one was injured in the fire.
