University of West Alabama launches new scholarships for black belt teaching agreement

LIVINGSTON, Ala. (WIAT) — The University of West Alabama is launching a program to give education majors scholarships if they commit to teach in a black belt community for at least three years.

Dean Jan Miller says 10 scholarships will be awarded each year. The Tuscaloosa News says chosen students will receive a partial $2,500 scholarship each semester.

The first scholarships will be awarded next semester.
