PELHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Dogs and humans both spent Saturday getting into the Halloween spirit while raising money for a great cause. The Basset Hound Rescue of Alabama hosted its second annual Spooktacular Basset Bash.
The event at Camp Scotty in Pelham is the biggest fundraiser for the rescue. Michael Bergman with BHRA says the group has been able to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home thousands of basset hounds over the last 15 years or so.
The bash features a howling contest for the four-legged visitors as well as a hot dog catching contest and costume contest. For their two-legged counterparts, the day featured music, food, and hanging out with other dog lovers.
BHRA is always looking for new fosters or volunteers to help rescue even more deserving dogs all across the state. If you would like to get involved, check out their website here or their Facebook here.
