A look at the gas line explosion 1 day later

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — On Monday, an explosion of a gasoline pipeline in Shelby County resulted in the death of 1 person, and left 5 more injured. During the fire, CBS42 Storm Track Meteorologist, Nate Harrington, went up in a helicopter near the scene of the explosion. On Tuesday, Nate was back up in the air to see the results of the explosion.

Officials said Tuesday there is no immediate impact to air quality, the Cahaba River or nearby Shades Creek, from the massive gasoline pipeline explosion.

Colonial Pipeline says the portion of pipe that exploded could be repaired as early as next week.
