Crews battling wildfire in Dora area; no residents or structures in danger

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Firefighters and crews with the Alabama Forestry Commission are battling a wildfire located on DW Robbins Road and Warrior Jasper Road in the Dora area.

Coleen Vansant with the Forestry Commission said when crews arrived, 10 acres were burning. As of 9 p.m., about 100 acres have burned, but the fire is contained.

Vansant said there are no immediate reports of residents or structures in danger. According to the Bagley Fire Department, they think someone was illegally burning and they expect to continue investigating. Crews from all over the state helped fight the fire, including Mobile, Bullock, Jefferson, Baldwin, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa.

Since the beginning of this year, 2624 wildfires have been reported in Alabama and 32939 acres have been burned.
