Birmingham police need help identifying Wendy’s robbery suspect

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Police are looking for a suspect who tried to rob a Wendy’s employee after ordering a frosty.

According to Lt. Sean Edwards, the cashier made him the frosty, only to find the suspect open the door to the cashier and kitchen area, brandish a pistol and demand money. The cashier refused, and the suspect calmly left.

As the suspect was leaving and getting into a vehicle that was waiting outside, a citizen saw he had a gun in his hand and figured something was off. They called 911 and followed the suspect vehicle while staying on the line with dispatch until police got there. Police tried to pull the vehicle over, and a brief pursuit ensued which ended in a foot chase.

The driver was taken into custody–the gunman and another unknown suspect got away. Please call Robbery Det. Wilder at 254-1753 or Crime Stoppers at 254-7777 with any information related to the case.
