The economic impact of hunting season in Alabama

TALLADEGA, Ala. (WIAT) — When you live in Alabama, hunting and other outdoor activities, are favorite pastimes for many. However, what you may not know is the extent of how much money and jobs it provides.

Members of the newly developed organization Hunting Works for Alabama held a meeting at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park to discuss this. They are educating the public on the impact of those activities in Alabama each year.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • $400 million is spent in hunting trips
  • Over $150 million is spent on equipment

In all, hunting generates about $1.8 billion in the state each year.
