Man arrested after allegedly fleeing JeffCo deputies on stolen ATV onto I-22

FORESTDALE, Ala. (WIAT) — A man is facing charges for leading Jefferson County deputies on a chase on a stolen ATV.

Deputies arrested 33-year-old William Cole on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He’s expected to face more charges including burglary and theft

It started when deputies went to a home on McConnell Lane in Forestdale to arrest Cole on drug charges but he wasn’t there.

A short time later, authorities spotted Cole at a gas station when he fled on foot.

Deputies say he then drove by on a stolen ATV and got on I-22 and they gave chase.

They say Cole crashed the ATV while attempting to drive up an embankment.

Cole was treated for minor injuries and taken to the jail. He is being held without bond.
