Man charged in shooting of 10-year-old

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE: Quintin Entin of Calera is facing charges of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Building. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.

Investigators say Entin was handling a loaded handgun when he mistakenly fired the weapon.

At last check, the 10-year-old boy is in stable condition.

ORIGINAL: Hoover Police say a 10-year-old boy is recovering after being shot while he was in his living room at Warringwood Heights Apartments. A bullet came through the wall from another apartment and hit him.

The 10 year-old was taken to Children’s Hospital.

Police say the person in the other apartment fled the scene before they arrived, but turned himself in later and was taken into custody.
