BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Vulcan Park and Museum unveiled three new miniature Vulcan statues Wednesday as part of the Vulcan’s on Parade project.
Vulcans on Parade is a community art project where local artists construct miniature replicas of Vulcan. They use symbols that represent the Magic City’s history and culture.
Mark Jackson with Birmingham Sister Cities say the project is a great way to bring new people to Birmingham.
“It’s amazing to drive tourism, to drive business this way to create a nice new revenue source as well–just to spotlight something that people around the world don’t really know about Birmingham until they come,” Jackson said.
Two of the statues will be installed at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Kinetic Communications. The third will be shipped to Liverpool in the United Kingdom as part of the sister city agreement.
