BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Officials want Blount County residents to be aware that the fire along I-65 is contained but still burning.
They say smoke is visible for many miles and has settled into valleys and other low-lying areas; Locust Fork and the I-65 corridor are still covered in thick smoke.
You are asked NOT to call 911 with reports of smoke related to these area. If FIRE, not smoke, is spotted in any area other than the I-65 corridor, please notify responders. Otherwise, responders are overwhelmed responded to reports of related smoke.
