MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – A 2A high school football playoff game is postponed as the Alabama Supreme Court tries to sort out which team should play.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association says Elba and Samson high schools were supposed to play Friday night, but the court said it could not make a decision before next week.
Elba was set to play Washington County High School but the association ruled a Washington County running back ineligible. The school board and teen are now disputing the removal.
Judges in Washington and Geneva counties issued conflicting orders in favor of their hometown teams playing in the game. That led to the AHSAA asking the Supreme Court to step in.
