Rocky Ridge Rd reopens after brush fire near Hwy 280 extinguished

MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. (WIAT) — UPDATE 4:50 PM: Vestavia Hills says the fire is out, but you may still see smoke in the area due to wind conditions.

ORIGINAL: Crews from Rocky Ridge Fire on the scene of a brush fire on road just off of Highway 280. Mountain Brook Police are also on the scene.

Rocky Ridge Road is blocked off at Shades Crest. The Vestavia Hills fire chief tells us the fire was threatening homes, but is now contained. Three agencies are on the scene battling the blaze.
