Teen charged in fatal shooting after Magic City Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A teenager is facing charges in connection to a deadly shooting after the Magic City Classic.

18-year-old Deante Ford is charged with one count of murder and two counts of assault. He’s currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $350,000 bond.

Authorities say Ford shot three people in the 1000 block of 3rd Ave W on Saturday, October 29.

20-year-old DeMarcus Bennett was shot and later pronounced dead at UAB. Two female victims suffered from gunshot wounds.

Birmingham police say the suspect and victim got into an altercation before the shooting.
