Fred L. Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award Celebration to be held on Nov. 19

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Fred L. Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award Celebration will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 19 at the Lyric.

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton has been named the recipient this year. She has been noted as an activist for civil and human rights for many years.

Other special awards will also be presented during the evening. Odessa Woolfolk will receive the first Odessa Woolfolk Community Leadership Award, Bobbie Knight will receive BCRI’s President’s Award and The Birmingham City Council will receive the Chairman Award.

There will be musical entertainment by the Sounds of Alabama Artists Inspiring Love and Justice: Dr. Henry Panion, III and Orchestra, Ruben Studdard, Eric Essix, Belinda George Peoples, The Birmingham Sunlights and others.
