Dreamland shares BBQ Bruschetta Recipe

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — If you’re looking for the perfect recipe to take to a party, Betsy McAtee with Dreamland BBQ is sharing a quick and easy BBQ Bruschetta recipe.

“This is our take on (the Italian version of) bruschetta. It’s so simple,” McAtee said.

First, you add about a ½ cup of diced red onion and chopped garlic to a pan with a bit of olive oil.

“You sauté this in your pan. Once you get everything soft, we’re going to add some chopped pork. This being Dreamland, we have to have chopped pork. But if you have a leftover Boston butt from say a fundraising event, or if you’ve cooked one over the weekend, you can easily use that as well,” said McAtee.

Add the chopped pork to the mixture and stir.

“Then, the next thing we’re going to do is use some Italian bread called ciabatta bread. We’ve already sliced it. You can get this at any deli or bakery. And so, to this sliced bread, we’re going to take some olive oil and then just with a pastry brush we’re just going to paint it on there just to give it that kick of extra flavor,” McAtee said.

From there, you simply add the BBQ pork mixture on top of the toasted bread. Sprinkle gorgonzola cheese or bleu cheese on top and caramelize it in the oven for 10 to 15-minutes.

“You can put as much, or as little as you want. It can be an appetizer, or a meal if you wanted to add a green salad with it,” said McAtee. “The secret ingredient is a little drizzle of Dreamland’s barbecue sauce!”
