Birmingham Fire responds to plane after emergency landing

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Fire responded to Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport after a Southwest Airlines plane went through an emergency landing, according to the department.

The diversion occurred due to a medical emergency on the plane, according to Toni Herrera Bast with the airport. The plane was initially headed from Boston to Houston before the incident.
