Walker County fighting 300+ acre fire, several Jasper homes evacuated

JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) — Fire departments in Walker County were fighting a fire that has burned over 300 acres, according to Hay Valley Fire Chief Jeff Carr.

Several homes in the County Road and White House Road areas in Jasper were under a voluntary evacuation while the blaze was active.

Troopers blocked off part of White House Road, but late this afternoon, the roadblock was cleared. The blaze began at 10:51 a.m.

As of 5:30 p.m. the fire was 100 percent contained, according to the Alabama Forestry Commission.
