BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — For ten years a Birmingham group has cooked and served a Thanksgiving feast to people in need and they continued that tradition Thursday at Kelly Ingram Park.

The Pride of North Birmingham #319 has cooked and served a Thanksgiving feast every year for the past ten years. A feast that includes ham, turkey, greens, dressing, macaroni and cheese, desserts and more.

It’s an event that has grown every year and members of the the group say they’re just thankful for the opportunity to be able to give back.

“Realizing that any of us could be in this situation any of us could have a need, so I’m thankful that we have come together as brothers as sisters and we are committed to filling the need,” said Timothy Sanford.

It takes months of preparation among several groups to make it all happen. Church groups also handed out clothing and toiletries to anyone who needed them.
