LEEDS, Ala. (WIAT) — Some shoppers are getting an early start to that Christmas shopping by hitting the stores on Thanksgiving Day. Bass Pro Shops opened its doors at 8 a.m and they had customers lining up before then.
“The line this morning was wrapping out the front door around to our tractor bay area,” said Bass Pro Shops Merchandise Manager Shannon Morgan.
Customers are taking advantage of the bargains. Ronald Dunn from Atlanta tells me his family celebrates Thanksgiving the Sunday before, and today is his day to shop. He’s been doing it for the last three years.
“I normally try to buy for other people but the sales are so good, we usually end of buying for ourselves,” said Dunn.
Dunn spends up to $400 buying Christmas gifts on Thanksgiving.
At Bass Pro Shops there are around 50 employees working Thanksgiving, and other stores have dozens of workers. Dunn has this message to them.
“We appreciate it a lot. It’s a tough day to work everyone wants to be off, we appreciate it a lot and thankful for them,” said Dunn.
