Hoover police investigating fatal apartment shooting

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: No arrest warrants have been issued; the case will be presented to a Grand Jury to determine if charges will be filed.

UPDATE: The man killed in the fatal shooting has been identified as Howard Marquis Hardy, 24, from Ensley.

ORIGINAL: Hoover police have confirmed that they are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Sunday morning at the Ashby at Ross Bridge Apartments.

Officers received the call of a person shot at 10:25 a.m., according to Lt. Keith Czeskleba. A 25-year-old male victim was found shot inside and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Czeskleba says a 45-year-old male suspect left the scene prompting dispatchers to issue a search for him. He was later apprehended by Bessemer Police during a traffic stop.

The victim was at the apartment visiting his girlfriend, when her stepfather and the victim got into a physical altercation.

The name of the victim has yet to be released pending notification of immediate family. Police have not released the name of the suspect involved.

Hoover Police says the case is being presented to the Bessemer Division of the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office to determine the charges.
