Boaz man arrested for allegedly beating woman over 2-day period

ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin, a Boaz man was arrested in connection to domestic violence.

“Matthew Scott Clanton, 33, of Boaz, was arrested and charged with one count of first degree domestic violence/suffocation, which is a felony,” investigator Brandi Fuller said. 

It is reported that Clanton allegedly beat a female victim over a two day period and strangled her until she lost consciousness. The victim had swelling to her eyes, swelling to her forehead, a laceration on her lip and several other cuts and bruises/

Clanton has been booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
