Storm shelters in Central Alabama for November 29th & 30th severe weather

(WIAT) — The National Weather Service has began issuing severe weather warnings and watches in Central Alabama, and WIAT has compiled a list of storm shelters which you can use in case they become necessary.

  • Calhoun County: A handful of safe rooms are available in Calhoun County: Click Here
  • University of Alabama Campus: A tornado watch and severe thunderstorm watch that includes the UA Campus in Tuscaloosa has been issued. North Campus and East Campus storm shelters are open, as well as Magnolia Parking Deck. More information can be found here.
  • Adamsville: The city of Adamsville is opening their storm shelter as of 7 p.m. Located behind the Adamsville Senior Center at 419 Spring Street.
  • Tuscaloosa County: Storm shelter at Northside Park by Walker Elementary is open
  • Hamilton: Storm shelter behind Hamilton FD & HS appears to be open as people wait for oncoming storm
  • Etowah County: Due to the threat of tornadoes, click here to view the shelters that have been opened.
