OPELIKA, Ala. (WIAT) — A man is in custody after turning himself in following an incident in which he allegedly took a woman against her will and brought her across state lines, according to a release from Phenix City Police.
Investigators met with an adult female at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala., and she reported being kidnapped and assaulted by a suspect that she had been involved with in a dating relationship, according to police.
The investigation reportedly revealed that the victim was taken from a residence in Columbus, Ga. on the evening of Nov. 25, and transported against her will into Phenix City, Ala. to the Colonial Inn on U.S. Highway 280.
Police state that the victim was sexually and physically assaulted at the hotel by the suspect in the case, Kadelen Holstick, 25, of Lanett, Ala.
Holstick reportedly drove the victim to Opelika, when she was able to exit the vehicle and run into a business to ask them to call 911. The victim was transported to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment, and was found to be suffering from injuries including broken arms, numerous cigarette burns, bruises, cuts, and contusions.
Warrants were issued for Holstick, who turned himself in on Monday Nov. 28, and is sitting in Russell County Jail on charges of Kidnapping 1st Degree, Domestic Violence Assault 1st Degree, Domestic Violence Strangulation, Sexual Torture, and Sexual Abuse 1st Degree.
