BRIGHTON, Ala. (WIAT) — Mayor Brandon Dean has issued a voluntary evacuation order for residents of the Holiday Mobile Home Park on Bessemer Super Highway.

Dean is asking all residents who live in areas prone to flooding to finish preparations, including securing yard items, moving vehicles to higher ground, and making sure your disaster kit is ready and accessible.

The Brighton Senior Center, located at 4100 Main Street, is open as a shelter starting at 5 p.m.

Brighton Middle School will not have any after school activities Tuesday, and the city hall will close at 4 p.m.

Dean encourages those interested in volunteering for emergency response to report to the Brighton Senior Center and Fire Station to learn where to assist.
