UA student sexually assaulted at gunpoint after walking home from the Strip

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — An investigation is underway after a University of Alabama student was raped and robbed at gunpoint inside her apartment after walking home from the Strip.

According to Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide, the sexual assault occurred early Sunday morning on the 1200 block of Convent Street.

The 19-year-old female victim reported that she walked back to her apartment around 1:45 a.m. when an unknown black male walked into her apartment and sexually assaulted her.

According to the survivor, the suspect, a male in his early to mid 20’s, threatened her with a firearm during the incident. The suspect was around six feet tall with a heavy build, wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide at 464-8690.
