TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Tuscaloosa County Homicide Detectives arrest a man in connection with a home invasion that led to an elderly man’s death.
Investigators say 21-year-old Donald Augustus Clark, Jr. is facing charges for murder, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, and theft of property. Investigators believe Clark is one of two people responsible in the home invasion.
The incident happened Wednesday, November 30th at a home on 55th Court East in Cottondale. Investigators say two men burst into the home with guns. They stole several items, including a 2005 gold Mercury Marquis from 77-year-old Willis Sample and his 73-year-old wife.
Willis Sample died from a heart attack. His death was ruled a homicide based on the medical examiner’s findings. The couple’s car was found abandoned in the Crescent East Apartments area in Holt and is currently being processed.
Clark is being held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bonds totaling $285,000. He is also being held without bond on previous unrelated charges.
