BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — It’s time to get in the Christmas spirit as we meet the youngest member of this year’s “A Christmas Carol” performance at Birmingham Children’s Theatre.
As a mom, there is an art to balancing your schedule and that of your kids, too. Now imagine your child is a budding star.
“I play Tiny Tim and Scrooge when he is eight years old,” Briar said. “What I love about performing is that I get to hang out with friends and get to be on the stage.”
While Briar is focused on a perfect performance on stage, it’s a list of calendars and careful planning by mom off stage.
“It’s difficult. I’m all over the place,” Briar’s mom said. “She does film acting with Acting Out Academy, so we go there once a week and now she is doing the Birmingham Children’s Theatre “A Christmas Carol” production and honestly I don’t know if I’m coming or going and I rely on friends and family.”
For now, it’s school as usual, but there may come a time for a more nontraditional balance
“She wants to homeschool, but right now her teacher Miss Hughes is so nice and the principal at Gardendale Elementary School allowed us to do her work at home,” Briar’s mom said.
While juggling acting and school, Briar does love to perform. You can see her on stage right here in Birmingham and who knows, maybe one day in New York.
