OAK MOUNTAIN, Ala. (WIAT) — Some local elementary students are helping make sure no child goes without this Christmas.
Students and faculty at Oak Mountain Elementary School raised more than $21,000 to buy toys for the program.
The kids used the money to purchase toys at Toys R’Us to benefit less fortunate kids in the community.
The children presented all the gifts to the U.S. Marine Corps at a special assembly at the school on Monday.
“They sacrificed their time which they’re never gonna get back,” said Corporal Walter Guevara with the USMC. “To give their time for underprivileged children that won’t be getting toys is pretty amazing.”
This is the seventh year Oak Mountain has participated in giving to Toys for Tots.
