Oneonta man identified in Birmingham hotel homicide investigation

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A victim has been identified in a December 1 murder at a Birmingham Holiday Inn hotel, which police are now investigating according to a release from Birmingham Police.

Woody Woodard, 67, of Oneonta, has been identified as the victim of the killing, which occurred around 1:15 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on the 5000 block of Richard Arrington Boulevard North.

According to the release, preliminary investigation has revealed Woodard was living at the hotel for a few days and had visitors in his room in the days prior to his death.

There was no sign of forced entry into the victim’s room and investigators believe he knew the attackers. Police are also searching for Woodard’s missing red 2002 Ford Mustang with tag # V4854G.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the B.P.D. Homicide Unit at 254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 254-7777.
